Central Cascade Land Exchange
In 2008 Western Pacific Timber completed the largest land exchange with a public entity in the state of Washington. WPT traded approximately 82,000 acres of timberlands located in Kittitas and Yakima counties for nearly 21,000 acres of scattered lands owned by Washington State and managed by Department of Natural Resources. As a result of this exchange, the State of Washington was able to block up approximately 129 square miles as a State Forest to manage for critical wildlife habitat. The parcels Western Pacific Timber acquired from the State of Washington through this exchange consist of both timber and non-timbered properties and are currently being evaluated on a parcel-by-parcel basis to determine their best use. For more information pleas see the
Washington State Department of Natural Resources website.
